Margaret Jeanette Nix Goodwin, age 85, of Burnwell passed away Thursday, January 27 at her
residence with her daughters by her side.
She was born June 21, 1936, the sixth of 10 children, to Reverend Herschel Nix and Flossie
Sargent Nix. She was proud to be known as a “hard worker”, and in addition to being a mother
and housewife, she worked ambitiously at many different jobs in her life. In the 1970’s, she and
her sister Melva owned M&M Fabrics, and by the 1980’s they had transitioned into catering
weddings and other events. It is for her skills in the kitchen that she is probably best
remembered. She has been known to say that she could cook more easily for 500 than she
could for 4.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers (Algie, Wyman, Marvin, Thurman, and
Jimmie, and one sister, Melva.
She is survived by her daughters, Regina Dollar of Burnwell and Yvonne Brown Bobo (Glenn
Allen) of Jasper, a grandson, Dr Adam Brown of Savannah, GA (Laura), Three granddaughters:
Tera Dollar McCarty of Opelika (Mikey), Tyra Dollar Glover of Lovettsville, VA (Martin), and
Megan Brown Turner of Huntsville (Kyle); Two brothers, Clyde Nix (Joan) of Burnwell and Dan
Nix (Carolyn) of Burnwell, and a sister, Martha Nix Myers of Dora, seven great grandchildren:
Shazi and Cash Glover, Cale, Shields, Liesel, Tharen, and Lawton Brown, and a host of nieces
and nephews.

life at 3. Burial will follow at Brasfield Cemetery.
