Margaret Ann Beard, 91 of Corner, returned home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 14, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 11am Friday, October 16, 2026, at New Horizon Chapel with Rev. Sammy Hodges officiating. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service time.
Born March 14, 1935, in Sayre, AL to Mary Ann and David Davies, she was a first generation American. While Margaret loved her country, she loved the Lord, her family and her friends unwaveringly.
Margaret was a graduate of Corner High School as well as a graduate of Birmingham Business College as a certified secretary. She married the love of her life, Robert, on September 15, 1955. They were blessed with two children and two grandsons and enjoyed 61 amazing years together.
Margaret worked briefly at General Electric and the city of Graysville and then returned home to raise her two children. Margaret and Robert spent many years growing vegetables and selling them roadside, where they made many friends. Those that knew Margaret would say she was firstly, a Faithful Servant of the Lord, a role model wife and the most loving mother and Mamaw anyone could ask for. She was a superb cook, a relentless housekeeper, owner of two green thumbs and always willing to help those in need. She was an iron-willed, virtuous woman with the most loving heart imaginable.
Our Mamaw will be deeply missed but we celebrate in the fact that she no longer suffers upon this earth but is now at peace in her heavenly home.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Beard; her parents, Mary Ann and David Davies and her brother, David Davies. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Creel (Mike); her son, David Beard (Karen); her grandsons, Matthew Creel (Haylee) and Tyler Beard (Kaitlyn) as well as extended family and friends.
The family would like to express our gratitude to Tywana and Melodie with Aveanna Hospice, Dr. William Maddox at The Kirklin Clinic and Mamaw’s two angels on earth, Brantly Shedd and Kamryn Williams.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Margaret’s beloved causes: Corner Volunteer Fire & Rescue or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
