Visitation will be Thursday, June 25, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Preuitt passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at NHC Healthcare. Marcia Jane Yates Preuitt was born in 1939 in Cullman, Alabama, to Woodrow and Jean Reaves Yates.
In 1956, while still in high school, she married Howard B. Preuitt of Danville, Alabama. Howard was previously married to Lillie, with whom he had six sons: James, Gene, Ken, Johnny, Eddie, and Alton Preuitt.
Marcia graduated from Falkville High School in 1958 and later earned a master’s in secondary education from UAB. After their marriage, Marcia and Howard raised Howard’s six sons, then welcomed their own son, Mike, after moving from the Danville community to Addison. While in college, Marcia worked at the King Edward plant in Cullman. She later taught math at Addison High School for 30 years and managed the family farm’s bookkeeping alongside her teaching career. Marcia loved teaching, tutoring students, gardening, and caring for her children. Her students adored her, and she was a loyal friend to many. After Howard passed away from cancer in 1987, Marcia never remarried.
In 2010, she moved to Hartselle and became a member of East Highland Baptist Church after many years of worshipping with Howard and their sons at the Penn Church of God. Marcia was baptized in the late 1950s and cherished serving the Lord and others.
After the recent deaths of James and Ken, she is survived by her biological son, Mike, and four of Howard’s sons: Gene, Johnny, Eddie, and Alton. Marcia was blessed to love and be loved by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Paxton Preuitt, Ken Preuitt, Jr., Jason Preuitt, Trent Preuitt, Braxton Preuitt, Brent White, Jackson White, and Brian Woods.
