Mrs. Mae Richardson, age 89, of Florence, passed away Monday, July 1, 2013.
Mrs. Richardson was one of the first lady barbers in North Alabama. She was trained by and worked with her husband, Burma, at Burma’s Barber Shop on Huntsville Road from 1972-1987.
The visitation will be at Elkins Funeral Home Tuesday from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The graveside service will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Spring Hill Cemetery near Addison, Ala. A nephew will officiate at the service.
She is survived by a daughter, Joyce Aaron ,of Florence; a son, Jimmy Legg, of Tuscumbia; grandchildren, Steven Legg, of Canada, Sandy Aaron, of Florence, and Janie Aaron Grammer, of Hartselle; great-grandchildren, Brittney Ruth Hauser, Courtney Grammer and Lesley Grammer; great-great-grandchildren, Marlee Annabelle Hauser and Kamdyn Stansberry.
Mrs. Richardson was preceded in death by a grandson, Mike Aaron; and a sister, Edna Marshon.
Pallbearers will be Doug Legg, Tyler Legg, Buddy Taylor, Morris Grammer, Michael Hauser and Paul Conn.
Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
