Luther "Rick" Woodall Luther “Rick” Woodall, 75, of Athens, Alabama, left this world to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 16, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. Rick was born on September 26, 1948, in Morton, Arkansas, to parents Luther P. Woodall and Edrie M. Dickerson Woodall, and grew up in Pumpkin Bend, Arkansas.

He is survived by his faithful and loving wife of fifty years, Marcia E. Woodall; his children, Robbie L. Woodall, Russ A. Woodall, and Leah E. Fogg, as well as Russ’s wife, Krystal J. Lemons; their son, Owen F. Woodall; Leah’s husband, Preston G. Fogg; their children, Lila E. Fogg and Sadie C. Fogg; Rick’s sister, Pamela J. Brownderville; her spouse, Alton R. Brownderville; and several nieces and nephews.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Randy C. Woodall.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. with a 2:00 p.m. chapel service at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home.

Rick’s first commitment was to his faith in his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, followed by his steadfast love for, and dedication to, his family and sacrifice for his country. Having graduated from picking cotton at a young age, he eventually retired as a Colonel in the United States Army.

In the meantime, he raised a family that never went in need, never had to worry about his leadership or judgment, and never suffered from a lack of love or guidance.

Rick’s life was a study in humility, character, and love. He was someone you could trust completely, unless you were a duck during duck season, a deer during deer season, or a turkey during turkey season. An avid hunter, Rick had a passion for the outdoors that stayed with him all his life. He knew every hickory-nut tree in the King Lake Bottoms of Pumpkin Bend, Arkansas, from squirrel hunting as a kid. As a youngster, he loved playing sports, especially basketball. As an adult, he was a passionate fan of Arkansas Razorback baseball. When not with his family or church, he was happiest in the stillness of the woods. And may no man disparage his lawn, which was unfailingly immaculate. His strong and noble example will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him.
