Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin immediately responded to the scene and activated the SWAT Team and Negotiators. Following a short standoff, Maddox surrendered, and Murphy followed soon after. Both were taken into custody without further incident.
ELKMONT-On the afternoon of March 6, 2025, Limestone County Deputies successfully apprehended two armed subjects who had barricaded themselves inside a residence on North Wales Road in Elkmont.

At approximately 4:30 PM, deputies attempted to serve four warrants on Charles Curtis Maddox, 45, of Elkmont, AL, and Chelsea Grace Murphy, 30, of Elkmont, AL. Instead of complying, the pair barricaded themselves inside the home while armed with a shotgun.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin immediately responded to the scene and activated the SWAT Team and Negotiators. Following a short standoff, Maddox surrendered, and Murphy followed soon after. Both were taken into custody without further incident.Maddox and Murphy have been booked into the Limestone County Jail, each facing two counts of Chemical Endangerment of a Child.
There is no threat to the community at this time.
