Lowman Gwin

Mr. Lowman Gwin, 82, of Toney, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday.

Lowman was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid fan of the University of Alabama athletics, especially football.   He was originally from Sheridan, Arkansas, came to Alabama in 1960, and had retired after a career as a brick mason.   He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Toney and loved square dancing, line dancing, and visiting with friends at the New Sharon Senior Center.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Robin Gwin Buckman, his brother, Thomas J. “Tommy” Gwin and by his parents, Earl & Alice Gwin.

Surviving family members include his wife of 59 years, Faye Gwin; His daughter, Sandy Burleson; His son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Michelle Gwin;  His four granddaughters: Holly Gwin (Daniel) Fishel, Candice Gwin, Catherine Gwin (Dylan) Ames, Grace Burleson;  His sisters, Marliyn Ashcraft and Mildred Hitt;  His brother, Aaron (Jamie) Gwin.   He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Saturday at 3:30pm at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Watts officiating.  Burial will follow in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery.
