Mr. Lowell Howard  "Duke" Hill Mr. Lowell “Duke” Howard Hill, age 79, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at his residence in Joppa, Alabama. Duke was born on February 6, 1944 during the midst of WWII. His parents were Lowell Hinds Hill and Lois Wright Hill, residents of Cullman County, Alabama. Duke’s home was in the Joppa community where he and his wife, Patricia Winn Hill, choose to settle down. Duke enlisted in the US Army during his early 20’s, reached the rank of sergeant and was immediately sent to Vietnam. After his military commitment was over he returned home and found work at Chrysler, working in electrical maintenance. Duke was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Corinth Baptist Church. He was a loyal fan of Auburn football, loved NASCAR, fishing and drag racing.
Duke is survived by his loving family consisting of: wife, Patricia “Pat” Winn Hill; son, Lowell “Howard” Hill, Jr. (Cynthia); three grandchildren, Jordan Hill, Issac Hill (Sydnie) and Cori Hill; and brother, Billy Hill (Sandra).
Preceding Duke in death are his parents, Lowell and Lois Hill, and two sisters, Betty Stephens and Edna Peoples.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama. The visitation will be between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Corinth Cemetery in Joppa, Alabama. Brother Randy L. Blakely will officiate.
Pallbearers escorting Duke to his final resting place will be Chris Hill, Shannon Hill, Matthew Bright, Pete Winn, Greg Pica and Issac Hill.
