Louie Winston Mullins, 84, died at his residence in the Brewer Community of Lee County after an extended illness. Louie was born on January 20, l933 in Meadville, Franklin Co., Miss. , the 2nd oldest of 11 children of Louie and Bessie Rollins Mullins. He graduated Meadville High and entered the U. S. Navy during the Korean War, honorably discharging after 4 yrs. Service with two bronze stars. He and his family lived over 40 years in Vicksburg. He worked as a welder for the R. G. LeTourneau Off Shore Drilling Company retiring after 43 years service. Louie loved his home in the Brewer Community where he was a master gardener growing vegetables and turnips, of which he gave most of his produce to friends. He loved his family and yard. He and his wife were active members of Crosspointe Ministries in East Tupelo.
A service celebrating his life, with military honors, will be held at 1 PM Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at Crosspointe Ministries on Eason Boulevard with Pastor Kevin Ray officiating. Visitation will be at the Church on Tuesday only beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the Brewer Cemetery. Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo Chapel is assisting their friends.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ilene Hamon Mullins of Brewer; 3 children, Deborah Lynn Grentry (Leon) of Rogers, Arkansas, David Glynn Mullins (Teresa) of Ellisville, MS. and Rodney Mullins (Regina Ann) of the Brewer Community. 5 grandchildren, Deborah Walden, Rebecca Reed, Regina Phipps, Bryce Mullins and Blayne Mullins. 9 great grandchildren. 7 siblings and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings.
