Lisa Hall Gilbert
February 10, 1959 – May 29, 2022

Lisa passed away early Sunday morning, May 29, at her home with her husband of 42 years, Thomas Adair Gilbert, by her side. She was predeceased by her parents, Richard Henry Hall and Pat Newman Hall, and brother, Richard Newman Hall.

Lisa is survived by their two sons, Thomas Adair Gilbert, Jr. and Scott Newman Gilbert; sister, Patricia Diane Hall; and nephew, Richard “Ricky” Newman Hall II.

Lisa was born in Athens, Alabama in 1959. She graduated from Athens High School in 1977 and earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama with a major in accounting and a minor in music in 1981. During her time at UNA, she was president of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, involved in many school activities, and was selected as the 1979 Homecoming Queen. Lisa received her master’s degree from Florida Institute of Technology in Systems Management and Operations Research in 1995.

Lisa was an active member of the Athens community; she was a co-owner of Gilbert Furniture Co., President and Vice President of the Athena League, and board member for the Donnell House. She was a beloved church member of Athens First United Methodist Church where she raised her children, sang in the church choir, and participated in the handbell choir for many years. She was very proud of her career with the United States Army Space and Missile Defense Command where she served as Chief of the Civilian Workforce Development Office before she retired in 2021. She cultivated many treasured friendships over her thirty-year career.

An informal Memorial Service will be held at the Beasley Center adjacent to Athens First United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 4, at 4:00, followed by a casual reception to honor the life and memory of this beloved lady.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Donnell House, P.O. Box 465, Athens, AL 35612.
