Lisa Ann Blankenship, 52, formerly of Valhermoso Springs, passed away on August 27, 2014, in Irving, Texas. Lisa was born on August 26, 1962, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late Dennis Cyrus Blankenship and Judith Blankenship Landers. Lisa graduated from Brewer High School in 1980 and went on to play basketball at Calhoun Community College and Southeastern Bible College. She was valedictorian of her graduating class and received a bachelor’s degree in education. Lisa taught physical education and coached high school basketball, volleyball, softball and track. She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Cyrus Blankenship and her brother, Rev. Dennis Brian Blankenship.
Lisa is survived by her mother and stepfather, Judith and Percy Landers of Hartselle; one sister, Laurie Erickson of Dawsonville, GA; nieces, Jessica Brohman and Jennifer Matson; and nephews, Jonathan and Jace Erickson.
Visitation will be at Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle on Saturday, September 27, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service at 1 p.m. in the chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alabama Boys and Girls Home or to St. Jude Research Hospital.
