Funeral service for Jimmy Lee Barnes, 53, of Decatur will be Thursday, September 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Eugene McNutt officiating. The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes, who died Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Huntsville Hospital, was born September 8, 1961, in Morgan County to John Marvin Barnes and Arie Octavia Hall Barnes. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jimmy was a devoted son and brother, as well as a kind and patient uncle. He will be greatly missed, and remembered as a warm and friendly man who never met a stranger, and possessed a loving Christian heart.
He is survived by his brother, John Michael “Mike” Barnes of Decatur; sister, Kay Barnes Looney (Wally) of Decatur; and four nephews and nieces, Christopher John Looney (April), Emily Rebecca Troup (Frank), Andrew John Barnes and Riley Scott Barnes.
Pallbearers will be John Lorenza, Brian Gamble, Jeff Day, Dennis “Slugger” Allred, Randy Loggins and Paul May.
