Ms. Linda Maureen Strickland, age 81 of Lineville, passed away on Sunday, April 2nd, 2023, at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation. She was a life-long resident of the Shinbone community, graduating from Lineville High School in 1959.
Known through the county as “the Hat Lady” for her love of wearing hats, she was an expert in the history of her family and community. Her passion drove her to help establish a marker for Chief Shinbone and record every grave in Union D. Baptist Church Cemetery, where many generations of her family are laid to rest.
She was a proud member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ and devotedly studied her bible, becoming a true scholar in the word of the Lord.
She is survived by her sister Imogene Strickland Yates and a loving host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers Gary Don, Vernon, Jimmie, Carlton, Roger and her parents, Huel T. Strickland and Daisy I. Dover Strickland.
The family requests no flowers but donations can be made to the Shinbone Valley Volunteer Fire Department, 70819 AL-49, Lineville, AL 36266.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date.
