Linda Jo Scruggs, age 68 of Haleyville, went to be with the Lord on February 23, 2018. Her hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer has ended. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 13, 1949, graduated from Ross High School in 1968, and moved to Alabama in 1983. She was a Wal-Mart Associate for over 12 years and most customers would remember her for her “price-checking” helpfulness as they were checking out. She was a substitute teacher with the Haleyville City Schools and, although she loved all the students, she had a heart for the children with special needs. She was a big NASCAR fan, loved Alabama football, and trips to the beach. Linda and her husband were also foster parents to several children over the years.
Linda is survived by her husband, William Rabon Scruggs; children, Kathy (Tim) Rowland, Karen (Bubba) Gravitt, Sharon Smith, Jamie Scruggs, John Scruggs, and Jacob (Heather) Shelton; grandchildren, Allyson Rowland, Haley Rowland, Kaylin Gravitt, Brody Gravitt, Meagan Smith, Emily Jo Smith, Kristin Scruggs, Cody Scruggs, Walker Scruggs, Hunter Scruggs, and Kyleigh Shelon; brothers, Mark Hunley and Rick Hunley; sisters-in-law, Anette (Jim) Casteel, Violet (Jerry) Mitchell, Wanda (Frank) Hawkins, and Faye Hood; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her Father, James William Jarrett; Mother, Kathleen Jane (Albert) Hunley, Jr.; Mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Scruggs; and a special family friend, Barbara Hood.
