Linda Jean Adcock Slayton was a devout Christian, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on October 19, 2023, at the age of 82 after a year long battle with cancer.

She was born to Gordon Adcock and Evelyn Nunley on January 15, 1941, in Huntsville, AL. She was raised in and remained a faithful member of the East Huntsville Church of Christ.

Linda’s Christian example was exemplified in her 33 years of care for her husband, Bobby Ray Slayton, who suffered an aneurism in 1985, and in his final years required 24/7 care. Throughout all of this she demonstrated the consummate Christian example of a spouse caring for her husband throughout their marriage and until his death on January 24, 2019.

Linda is survived by her sons, Joel (Sharon) Slayton of Winchester, TN, and David (Julie) Slayton of Huntsville, AL; sister Lisa (Bruce) Pate; grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlyn, Edwin, and Mimi; nieces and nephews Jacob, Ben, Brooke, Mandy, Jennilee, and Katie. She is proceeded in death by her husband, parents, and brother Tommy Nunley.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 23, 2023, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Spry Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 12:00 with Bill Cantrell officiating. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or to Childhaven.
