Linda Irene Swader Filyaw, age 68, went to be with the Lord Nov. 28, 2016, after a brief illness. She was a resident of Tuscumbia. Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family meant the world to her. One story she loved to tell her grandchildren was when she, along with her schoolmates, saved change to keep the USS Alabama from being destroyed.
Her memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry Swader and Mildred Cline; two sons-in-law, Mark Rosati and Butch Weems; and her great-grandson, Maverick Filyaw.
Survivors include her daughters, Samantha Weems, of Tuscumbia, and Glynis Filyaw, of St. Florian; son, Darrell Filyaw (Casey), of Sheffield; granddaughters, Taylor Bratton (Jonathan) and Raven Filyaw; grandsons, Dallas Filyaw (Kendyl) and Cody Filyaw (Chelsea); great-granddaughter, Aurora Filyaw; sister, Kathy Bechard; and brother, John Swader.
