Linda Gail Wheeler, age 74 of Winchester, passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at her home peacefully. A native of Franklin County, she was born on January 2, 1948, to the late Norris and Doris (Arnold) Cope Jr. Linda retired from the Franklin County Board of Education in the early 2000’s. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling to Florida to lay on the beach and soak up the sun, as well as traveling around the world. She could be considered a “professional shopper,” especially at Macy’s and the Goodwill Boutique, and was a wonderful chef. But most of all, she cherished the time spent with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren. Linda will be remembered for her loving and generous nature, as well as her vibrant personality that was often the “Life of the Party.” She was a member of the Decherd First Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judith Ann Cope; brother, Gregory Arnold Cope; grandparents, Mable Arnold and Grady Arnold, Mary Catherine Cope, and Norris Cope Sr; cousin, Steven Carter; and several aunts and uncles. Linda is survived by her loving husband of fifty-four years, Leonard Wheeler; children, Natalie (Tim) Hill of Aldie, Virginia, and Nikki (Charles) Hedgepath of Mt. Juliet; grandchildren, Nikholas Hedgepath, Tanner Hedgepath, Brett Hedgepath, and Brittany Hedgepath; cousins, Gloria (Ken) Kaalberg, Kellie (Pascal) Dalton, and Bobby Carter; and many other relatives. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, November 11, 2022, and from 10am-12pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, November 12, 2022, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Noland officiating. A private burial for family is planned.
