LIMESTONE COUNTY-In the early hours of Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., deputies from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office and Giles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious female in the Lester community near the Alabama-Tennessee state line.
Upon arrival in the 29000 block of Lester Road, deputies encountered 43-year-old Bethany Paige Thornton Garcia of Athens,
Alabama. Garcia was located inside a garage attempting to steal a vehicle. When confronted by law enforcement, she refused to comply with commands and tried to flee the scene. In the process, Garcia struck a Giles County patrol vehicle twice before crashing through the garage wall, causing significant property damage and disabling the vehicle.

She has been charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Burglary in the 3rd Degree, and Criminal Mischief in the 1st Degree.
