Lester-Vance-1419691975Lester Lee Vance, age 74 of Tuscumbia, passed away on December 26th, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, December 28th, 2014 from 6:00–9:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. His body will lie in state at First Baptist Church of Cherokee from 1:00–2:00 p.m., Monday, December 29th, 2014. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Gatus Cheatham, Bro. Dewitt “Bill” Bain, and Pastor Scott Livingston officiating. Interment will be in Cherokee Memorial Park.

Lester was a native of Ethel, Mississippi and was a member of First Baptist Church of Cherokee. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served in the states as well as in Thule, Greenland. He retired as an Electrician from Texas Eastern after 29 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge (Vertagreen Lodge No. 919).

Lester was preceded in death by his parents, Ellie Hugh and Myma Lee Vance; brother, Henry Hugh Vance; and sisters Dorothy Rhines and Marie Edwards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patsy Barton Vance; sons, Larry Lee Vance, Barry Scott Vance and wife Nancy, and Bruce Barton Vance and wife Cheryl; brother, Dalton Vance and wife Carolyn; sisters, Charlene Miles, Betty Milner and husband Alton, and Linda Thompson and husband Tom; four granddaughters, Allie and Caroline Vance and their mother, Claudia Polo Vance, Taylor and Sara Vance, and one grandson, Nolan Vance.

Leland Timmons, Jack Crowell, Ricky Bourland, Jimmy Wallace, Charles Vance, Willie Brown, Doyle Stanfield, Dean Goodloe, and Laurence Harrell will serve as pallbearers.

A special thanks to the staff of Cottage of the Shoals Rehabilitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International.
