Leonard Harold Dickens, age 76 of Smithville, passed away on July 26, 2024 at Ascension St Thomas Rutherford in Murfreesboro. He was retired from being self-employed for many years. He owned Pates Ford Market for 25 years, and formerly served on the DeKalb County Beer Board, Dekalb County Commission and was a longtime DeKalb County Volunteer Fireman. He was born January 7, 1948 to his parents, the late Ellis and Tessie Midgett Dickens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hattie Dickens, sisters Irene (Jewel) Lockhart, Goldie (Belvie) Adams, Billie Sue (Douglas) Jones and brother, James (Wanda) Dickens. Leonard is survived by his daughter, Katrina (Kenny) Cubbins and son Len (Tammy) Dickens of Smithville. Grandchildren Kelly (Nathan) Lawson, Kyra (Daniel) Juneau, Lenzi (Jarrett) Adams and Madison Dickens. Great grandchildren Brayden Juneau, Bella Hutchins, Haivynn Overton, Camron Juneau, Kylie Juneau,Wrennen Welch, Andrew Lawson, Emma Jo Wagner, Katie Beth Lawson and Kailen Jude Dickens all of Smithville. He is also survived by a sister, Ann (Johnny) Roseberry of Nashville and a brother, David (Cathy) Dickens of Hendersonville, along with a host of nieces and nephews. His family has chosen direct cremation with a graveside service for family to be announced later. The family would like to thank Tim Tobitt & the staff of Good Health Family Clinic, Suncrest Home Health, Ascension St Thomas Rutherford and Gentiva Hospice for the care given.
