Leo Yancey Smith, 81, resident of Blue Mountain, departed this life on Thursday, March 28, 2024, following a brief illness.

Arrangements for Ms. Smith are incomplete at this time and will be announced as soon as they become available.

Born January 1, 1942, in Tippah County, Ms. Smith was the daughter of the late Joe and Carrie Smith Yancey.  She was a graduate of Pine Grove High School and was a valued employee of Bench Craft for 29 years until her retirement.

A Christian, Ms. Smith will be remembered for her friendly, funny, loving and giving personality.  You always saw her with a smile and made sure those she met had a smile on their face before they left.  Her favorite past times include watching tv, arts and crafts and cooking, especially her famous salmon patties.

Those left to cherish her memories include one son, Phillip Smith (Melissa Bolden) of Blue Mountain, two sisters, Johnnie Fay Henson (Jerry) and Robbie Newby, both of Dumas, two grandsons, Rusty and Tony Smith and a host of nieces and nephews.  Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Fagin Smith, her twin sister, Cleo Boren, three brothers, Clifford, Ben and Neal Yancey.
