Rev. Leo Cleveland Smith, Sr., age 100, of Belvidere, Tennessee, passed away on April 28, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Belvidere, TN, on April 20, 1925, to the late Harvey and Lucy (Pate) Smith. Leo dedicated his life to serving God and his community, preaching until 2022 when health issues compelled him to step back. Before answering his divine calling, he was a skilled carpenter and worked tirelessly at General Motors, demonstrating a strong work ethic throughout his life. Leo cherished moments with his family, finding joy in fishing, singing, and delightful Sonic cheeseburger outings. His unwavering love for God and his family will forever be remembered, as will his gentle spirit and infectious laughter. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-eight years, Ruthie Jane Clark Smith; son, Tim Smith, Sr., daughters, Brenda Smith, Wanda Pattillo, Judy White, and Janet Smith; siblings, Ophelia Brazier, Mary Kirk, Ralph Smith, John Smith, Bob Smith, Charlie Smith, Joe Smith and Russel Smith. He is survived by his loving children, Leo (Peggy) Smith, Jerry (Brenda) Smith, Melody (Frankie) Brown, Cindy (Ray) Jackson, Mary Smith Vandiver; 41 grandchildren; 96 great-grandchildren; 92 great-great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-great-grandchildren; special friend, Juanita Hall; many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at Watson Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Funeral services will follow in the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson Funeral Home.
