Lela Mae Baker – Obituary

Mrs. Lela Mae Baker, age 90, of Spencer, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2016, at her home in Spencer.

Mrs. Baker was born January 9, 1926 in Long Leaf, LA. She is the daughter of the late Howard and the late Bertie (Squires) Gannon. She was a member of the Baptist faith.

She Co-owned and operated Baker’s Store with her husband, who preceded her in death, Isaac Leon Baker.

She is survived by: Daugther-in-law, Virginia Baker; Grandsons, Kenny Baker and wife Hope of Spencer, Rodney Baker and wife Carrie of Spencer, Derek Baker and wife B.J. of Spencer; Thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; special friends Deltrice Howard and Barbara Shockley; sisters-in-law, Hazel Baker and Essie Rhame; and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, John Baker, brother Ginny Rhame, and brother-in-law Delbert Baker.

A memorial service will be held at Layne Funeral Home on Sunday, July 3, at 4PM with Gene Brock officiating. There will be a period of visitation with the family from 1PM until time of service.
