Mr. Lee Edley Smith, age 80, of the Oleander community in Union Grove, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden in the early morning hours of Friday, August 8, 2025.
Lee was born on February 23, 1945, in Marshall County, Alabama, to Leamon Cecil Smith and Susie Ann Corbin Smith. He dedicated his professional life to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), from which he retired after a long and rewarding career.
Lee was a true outdoorsman who found joy in fishing, hunting, bush hogging, yard work, and spending time in nature. He cherished moments with family and friends during cookouts, fish fries, and casino trips. Lee also had a deep appreciation for country and gospel music and especially enjoyed the Christmas season, which he celebrated with warmth and enthusiasm.
Family left behind to cherish memories include his son, Ronnie Lee Smith (Charity); daughter Christine Hubbard (James); brother, Robert Joseph Smith (LouBecca); and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Susie Smith and a brother, Rayburn Smith.
Services for Lee will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Monday, August 11, 2025. The family will greet friends and guests for a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral service starts at 2:00. Brother James Andrew Hubbard will officiate services. The family has chosen to honor Lee’s wishes for cremation. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is honored to assist with arrangements.
