Mrs. Ball was born Tuesday, September 3, 1929 to the late Maurice O. and Lillian May Smith Southmayd. On Thursday, October 6, 1949, she was united in marriage to Mr. Lee W. Ball, who preceded her in death on Christmas Day 2002.
A native of Lake Placid, New York, she lived in Texas, California and Ohio before moving to Hardeman County in 2004. She worked as a homemaker, enjoyed bird watching, quilting and crafting, and was an active member of the Grand Valley Lakes Ladies Club. She attended Rocky Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Diane B. Lanier of Saulsbury; son, Philip L. Ball and wife Annette of Franklin, Ohio; grandsons, Jared Ball of Franklin, Ohio, and Jason Ball and wife Jessica of Franklin, Ohio; brother, maurice J. Southmayd and wife Roberta of Upper Jay, New York; and nieces, Connie Morrison and husband Don of Upper Jay, New York, and Jacquie Harding and husband Dave of Alabama.
