Lawrence William Bennett (LB), 68, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2016, at his home. Mr. Bennett was born in Tishomingo, Mississippi on March 9, 1948. He was a retired chemist from TVA Colbert Steam plant. Lawrence received his B.S. degree from Rust College, Holly Springs, Mississippi. He loved fishing, gardening, and bowling. He was inducted into the Shoals USBC Association Hall of Fame, class of 2016.
Services for Mr. Bennett will be noon Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, at Carter’s Branch Missionary Baptist Church, Tishomingo, Mississippi. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Tuscumbia. Public viewing will be Friday 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation with the family 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Sheffield.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Robbie Bennett; one son, Lawrence Rashad Bennett, Madison, Alabama; one daughter, Kristy Bennett Jones, Harvest, Alabama; two granddaughters, Syrena Bennett and Jazlyn Jones; three sisters, Violet Stricklin (Robert), Blue Mountain, Mississippi, Brenda Harris (Prentiss) East Moline, Illinois, and Mildred Powell (Bobby), Tishomingo, Mississippi; one uncle, James Bennett (Zinner), Muscle Shoals, Alabama; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Bennett was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert Cecil Bennett Sr. and Mattie Mann Bennett; two brothers, Gene Bennett and Hubert Bennett Jr.; and two sisters, Ruby Smith and Betty Sue McCullar.
The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, his nurse Abby Bernauer, Holly Carter, and all the staff that gave such great care to Lawrence.
