Lawrence Edward Davis Jr. passed away on June 6, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital. He was born April 23, 1935, in Florence, Alabama to Lawrence Sr. and Geneva Davis.

He is survived by Willene Johnson Davis, married 63 years; one son, Lawrence Edward “Trey” Davis III (Sheila), of Cordova, Tennessee; two daughters, Amanda Burk (Tim) and Sabrina Ward (Mark), both of Bartlett, Tennessee; and eight grandchildren, Tracie Davis, Katelynn Englert (Caleb), Lawrence Edward Davis IV (Catherine), Coley Thomas (Jeremy), Marcus Burk (Elizabeth), and Rachel, Taylor and Brooklynn Ward; and four great-grandchildren, Lawrence Edward Davis V, Brooks Davis, and Riley Jo and Rhett Thomas. He is also survived by one sister, Theresa Davis (Wayne).

He retired from General Motors Corporation. He graduated from Deshler High School, Tuscumbia, Alabama, in 1954. He graduated from Larimore Business College and attended Memphis State for two years. He was of the Baptist faith. Edward was an avid Alabama football fan. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed keeping up and visiting with his high school friends via e-mail.

Visitation will be held today from 9-10 a.m. with the service to follow immediately at 10 a.m. The Entombment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum. All services will be held at Memorial Park.

The family requests memorials be sent to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
