LAWRENCE COUNTY-The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement concerning the injury of officer Blake Whitaker while conducting an investigation of a traffic accident:
NOTE: The two people involved in the initial accident were transported to the Lawrence Medical Center. At this time their condition is unknown.
“At approximately 7:45pm Monday December 18th 2023, one of our Corrections Officers witnessed a two-vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Alabama HWY 157 and Parker Rd in Moulton.
Our Corrections Officer exited his personal vehicle to check on injuries and was struck by a vehicle attempting to avoid the accident. Our Corrections Officer was flown to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition.
Sheriff Sanders would like to ask the community for prayers for our Corrections Officer, his family and the Department.”
