Lawrence Arnold Walt Lawrence Arnold Walt, age 90, passed away Sunday, October 20, 2024 at his residence in Decatur, Alabama. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Oak Park Church of God in Decatur, Alabama with Pastor Robert “Bobby” Newman officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM at the church prior to the service. There will also be a Graveside Service on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Gaston Memorial Park in Gastonia, North Carolina. Interment will be at Gaston Memorial Park.

Mr. Walt was born in Travis City, Michigan on February 10, 1934 to Wilbur and Martha Newstead Walt. In the 1950’s at age 17, he joined the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. Later, he attended Lee University Bible College and held an Associate’s Degree in Business. He attended Oak Park Church of God and was a Minister of more than 50 years.

Lawrence was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to everyone. His kindness and love will endure in the hearts of all who knew him. Although we mourn his passing, we take comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with his loved ones in the embrace of eternal peace.

Mr. Walt was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sylvia Reagan Walt; and two brothers, Elgin Walt and Alfred Walt.

Mr. Walt is survived by his two daughters, Lynne (Robert “Bobby”) Newman and Patricia Hester; two sons, W. David (Alison) Walt and Christopher (Paula) Walt; ten grandchildren, Rob Newman (Katie), Natalie Richaud (Benjamin), John Garrett (Kayla) Newman, Mallory Quintero (Jon), Wesley Hester (Amy), Rachel Brown (Sean), Jennifer Moreschi (Mo), Matthew Walt (Elianna Wydra), Kelsey Walt, Samantha Walt; as well as fifteen great-grandchildren, Robbie, Amelia, and Theodore Newman; Benjamin and Genevieve Richaud; Scarlett Lynne and Grayson Newman; Sorcha and Rhonan Quintero; Elvina and Elora Hester; Alex and Angel Brown; Emmett and Ellie Moreschi.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made In Memory of Mr. Lawrence Walt to: Oak Park Church of God at 1502 16th Avenue SE, Decatur, Alabama 35601.

Shelton Funeral Home in Decatur, Alabama and McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia, North Carolina assisted the family with arrangements.
