Lavell Claborn, 88, of Decatur, passed away on January 16, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Wayne Voss and Reverend Jeff Parker officiating. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mr. Claborn was born September 20, 1926, in Etowah County Alabama to Charlie and Lenora Voss Claborn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and is a retired carpenter foreman. He was a 35 year member of the Michigan Carpenters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen Claborn Towler; son, Terry Joel Claborn; and sister, Olene Wood.
Mr. Claborn is survived by his sons, Ronald D. Claborn (Mary), of Decatur and Timothy D. Claborn Sr. (Anna), of Ypsilanti, MI.; and sister, Mavis Foster (Lonnie), of Bessemer; and grandchildren, Cynthia Stevens (Darryl), Rebecca Weaver, Jennifer Lynn Claborn, Amber Nicole Otten (Jason), Timothy D. Claborn Jr., and Terry O. Claborn; several great-grandchildren; and special friend, Isabel Carroll.
