Larry M. Goodman peacefully passed away on March 17, 2020 after a lengthy illness from a stroke and dementia. He was born in 1933 to Joe H. and Ethel (Hollingsworth) Goodman in Eva, Tennessee.

Larry served four years in the United States Navy in the Western Pacific during the Korean War on the aircraft career Valley Forge. In the Navy, he was a trainer for radar systems, and this inspired him to attend Indiana Technology Institute and obtain a degree in Electronics Engineering. This led him to make his family home in Huntsville, AL, moving here in 1960. He came from an era of no electricity or running water to work on the Apollo space program that sent men to the moon, Skylab, and later on Hellfire Army missile systems.

Larry was truly a good man who worked hard to provide for his family and also served in numerous volunteer positions. He could fix anything, from cars to appliances, and it was a sad day when he was forced to call a repairman.

Larry was predeceased by his parents, four siblings, and two sons, Larry Scott Goodman and W. Ryan Goodman. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Lydia Goodman, his three children, René Goodman Seigh (John), Malcolm Goodman (Vickie), and Devlon Goodman (Roberta), eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

The family sends special thanks to Regency Retirement Village employees, home-health caregivers, and hospice workers for welcoming Larry and Lydia into their family and providing love and outstanding care for the past 31 months.

A celebration of life service is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an Alzheimer’s or Cancer organization of your choice.
