Larry Hoyet Fretwell, 75, was called home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 after an extended illness. Larry was born in Colbert county on December 14, 1948 to the late Hoyet and Rachel Quinn Fretwell. He was married to the love of his life, Joyce Vandiver Fretwell, for 54 years and together they built a beautiful and loving family with two children, 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Larry worked for TVA for 26 years until his retirement. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and working in his yard, but above all, his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He squandered many dollars on candy bars, cokes and a sack of Red Man after a full day of romping around and playing outside with his grandkids. He taught many of them to drive at an early age on anything that had wheels – and nothing made him happier than slicing a big juicy watermelon for his family after a full day of splashing around in the pool with his kiddos. His family will miss him dearly, but are looking forward to a heavenly reunion one day soon.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Fretwell.

He is survived by his wife, Joyce Fretwell; son, Robert (Stacey) Fretwell; daughter, Shawn Partain; grandchildren, Kendra (Kody) Gray of Fulton, MS, Haleigh (Hunter) Chism of Smithville, MS, Beau Moses of Fulton, MS, Cash Partain, Kalyn, Anna, and Jacob Fretwell; great-grandsons, Silas, Sam, and Scout Gray, and Harlan Chism.

In lieu of a public viewing, friends and family will gather to celebrate his life.
