 Larry Eugene Williams, 72, died Wednesday, August 29, 2018, in his home

after a 4 year battle with cancer. He was born August 1, 1947 in Okolona to Elihu
and Mozell Williams. Larry lived all his life in Okolona. He played baseball and
lettered in football at Okolona High School and went on to play football at ICC. He
joined the Air Force and served for three years and the National Guard for one year.
Larry was an avid hunter, golfer, and loved his family and grandkids. He was a rural
mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 37 years and loved the people on his route.
He was a generous, good hearted man and would have given the shirt off his back to
any of his people. He enjoyed hosting fish frys for his hunting buddies and wife’s
Sunday School class. He was a jack of all trades, could build any building and
operate any large equipment.
He was a member of Union Chapel Church. In recent years Larry attended West
Jackson St. Baptist Church. He professed that he trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior.
His sins were forgiven and now he is alive in Christ. “To be absent from the body is
to be present with the Lord.” 2 Corinthians 5:8

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Williams of Okolona; one son, David Williams and
his wife Kim of Okolona; one daughter, Tanya Williams Franks and her husband
James of Memphis; four grandsons, Lige Williams, Will Turner, Ethan and Adrian
Franks and two grand daughters, Lauren and Addison Franks; step-mother Martha
Ogg Williams of Mooreville; two sisters, Joyce (Bill) of Shannon, Beth Johnson (Scott)
of Mooreville; one step brother William Ogg (Kay) of Shannon. Larry was preceded
in death by his parents.

Visitation will be at Holland Funeral Home in Okolona Thursday, 8/29 from 5-8p.m.
the funeral will be Friday at 2pm at West Jackson Street Baptist Church in Tupelo
with the burial following at Okolona Cemetary.
