Gene Wooden, 88, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carlene Wooden, and daughter, Angela Wooden Etheridge.
Gene and Carlene moved to Huntsville in 1957. Gene worked for Brown Engineering with NASA as a test engineer on the Saturn engines. They moved to Kwajalein and spent six years enjoying island life together. They were married for over 61 years and had a good life.
Survivors include his son, Gene Wooden, Jr. (Denise); daughter, Valerie Ann Wooden; brother, Tom Wooden (Martha); sisters, Liz Owen and Polly Lee (Bob); grandchildren, Keith Wooden (Robyn), Kyle Wooden (Haylee), Kendal Wooden, and Alex Etheridge; and two great-grandchildren, Bennett and Abigail.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, September 2 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, with the funeral immediately following in the chapel. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.
