Mr. Larry Alan Bauer Larry Alan Bauer was born September 7, 1951 in Morrison, Illinois. Larry passed August 27, 2025 in Huntsville, Alabama following a short illness.

Larry attended Morrison schools, Clinton Community College, and graduated from The University of Alabama in Huntsville in Systems Engineering. His first career was baking in his parents’ bakery, then as a machinist and officer at the Clinton Car Shop for Chicago Northwestern. He worked for NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Space Shuttle data integration and communication, then in advanced vehicle development.   He was a long-term member of Mensa, and after retirement, the Eagles Lodge.

A gentle soul with a giving heart, Larry enjoyed time with friends and family and friends who became family.  Even those people he brought into his life to assist him in his later years, became great friends and an inspiration to him.  He loved his family and was an amazing grandfather.  He shared his love of family and friends as a baker of Apple and Blueberry Deliciousness, Oatmeal Cookie in the Pie Tin, and as an expert turkey carver.  Larry was a wood worker, jewelry maker, and knife maker. In between watching Hallmark movies, he read enthusiastically, edited book drafts, and played poker.  He was a frequent speaker at Science Fiction conventions, one way he shared his storytelling gift.  When he was done with an event, he was the master of the Irish Goodbye.  He will truly be missed by those he spent time with.

Larry is survived by sons Chris (Mary) Love of Huntsville, Alabama, Danny (Victoria) Love of Normal, Illinois, grandchildren Jamie and Devon Love, and Raymond Harvell, and former wife Anne Bauer.  His parents Emil and Helen Bauer predeceased him.
