Funeral service for Lala Watts Newman, 84, will be Sunday, September 24, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Danny Pitts officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Hartselle Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Saturday, September 23, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Newman died on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Hendrix Health Care Center. She was born May 9, 1933, in Jefferson County to Ira Babe Shockley and Maggie Bell Davis Shockley. She was a loving wife and mother and a member of First Methodist and New Covenant Churches of Hartselle. She was involved in many organizations from the St.. Judes Foundation to “Feed the Children”. She was employed by Beauti-Control Cosmetics as a Consultant and Representative. Mrs. Newman loved art and enjoyed painting and sculpting. She also did volunteer work at local hospitals and nursing homes. She was preceded in death by her fiirst husband: Troy Eugene Watts, her second husband: Dorsey Gene Newman and her parents.
