L.D. Cary, 82, of Decatur passed away Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017 at Huntsville Hospital. A Celebration of Life service will be Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Dale Hendricks, Tim Sutton and Gary Patton officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
L.D. was born April 18, 1934 in Limestone County to Lucius Davis Cary, Sr. and Mary Priscilla Thomas Cary. He retired from Texaco Chemical Inc. in Port Neches, Texas as assistant plant manager. He served his country in the United States Air Force from where he was honorably discharged. L.D. was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife and family, and was an active member of the Somerville Road Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his wife, Faye; grandson, Cary Dale Hendricks and a granddaughter, Lindsey Rae Head.
He is survived by three daughters, Judy (Dale) Hendricks of Longview, Texas, Karen (Lee) Brown of Longview, Texas and Cathy (Tim) Taylor of Decatur; sisters, Grace Whitmire of Decatur and Jean Carlisle of Madison; and eight grandchildren, Chad Hendricks, Holly Peters, Lacey Fisk, Joshua Head, Kelli Head, Amy Carlisle, Megan Taylor and Marshall Taylor. His pride and joy were his great-grandchildren, Ryan, Matthew, Braddock, Anabelle, Raegan, Remi, Rhenley, Henry, Maggie, Taylor, Abigail, Elizabeth and baby?
Pallbearers will be Tommy Wayne Cary, Steve Cary, Tim Collier, Tim Castelle, Randy Casey and Allen Blaxton.
