Kenneth Andrew Lay, 89, of Jasper, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026. Kenneth was born on May 31, 1937, in Arab, Alabama, the son of W.R. and Agnes Lewis Lay. He served in the US Navy and had retired from his many years of air conditioning/refrigeration business in Walker County.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, July 15, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is preceded in death by his wife of many years, Sylvia Rigsby Lay; a daughter, Wanda Gail Lay; a granddaughter, Heather Lauren Abbott; parents, W.R. and Agnes Lewis Lay; sisters, Betty Pesnell and Peggy Box; and brother, Glen V. Lay.
He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Abbott; his son, Kenneth R. Lay; as well as grandchildren, Julie Abbott, Sally Watts and Dalton Lay; great-grandchildren, Alivia Abbott, Presley Perdock, Scarlett Abbott, Ella Watts, Cohen Watts, Freddie Poe and Julian Poe; and great-great grandson, Windsor R. Holland.
