Kathy Troup Jones, age 66, passed away Monday, May 25, 2026 after a brief illness. She was born in Anderson, IN. having lived most of her life in Decatur, AL.
She was a Real Estate agent for 15 years in Decatur and briefly in Anderson. She was a PTA President, Vice- President, Secretary and Treasurer at West Decatur Elementary School. She enjoyed being a substitute teacher and volunteering for the Austin High School Marching Band, the Pit Crew and also making backdrops for Band Tournaments and football games.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marjorie Troup, her brother and sister-in-law, Randy Troup and Michelle, and daughter, Jessica Jones Sheets.
She was a loving wife to her husband of 46 years, Herbert Steven Jones; mother to her children, Zach (Brooke), Shelby Jones; son-in-law, Kevin Sheets; grandchildren, Dayne Patton, Tripp Jones, Zayden Simpson, Reece Sheets, GiGi Perry, Ava Jones; great granddaughter, London; sister, Vicki Troup Thomas (Doug); sisters-in-laws, Marsha Lyons (Tom), Pat James (Mike), cousins and a host of nieces and nephews.
