Kathy Gail Allen, a cherished wife, devoted mother, doting grandmother, and beloved sister, passed away on July 28, 2023. Born on May 12, 1951, in Maury County, Tennessee, Kathy was the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Slaughter and Aileen Haywood Slaughter. She was one of six siblings, and while she leaves behind fond memories with those who loved her, she is now reunited with her sisters Faye and Barbara in eternal peace.
On July 26, 1968, Kathy embarked on a journey of love and companionship, marrying the love of her life, John Steve Allen. They celebrated 55 beautiful years together, a testament to the enduring bond they shared.
Kathy’s heart was filled with love and warmth for her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Donna (Micca Grooms) Allen, and Ronnie (Allison) Allen, and embraced her role as a grandmother with sheer joy. Her four grandchildren, Cody (Hannah) Allen, Taylor (Taylor Kilburn) Allen, Gracie Allen, and Emily Allen, held a special place in her heart, and she would go to great lengths to spoil them and make them feel cherished. The newest addition to her family is her great-grandbaby, Alaska Reign Kilburn.
Kathy had a lively spirit and a love for dancing. Whenever a good tune played, she would gracefully take to the dance floor, showing everyone how to “cut a rug” with style and enthusiasm. Her appearance was a source of pride for her, and she always took care to present herself beautifully. Her hair, nails, jewelry, and clothes were meticulously attended to, and she ensured that her family looked their best as well, leaving a lasting impression on those she met.
Beyond her impeccable appearance, Kathy had a competitive streak and enjoyed the thrill of a challenging card game. She was known to give tough competition and always won with a twinkle in her eye.
Kathy’s cooking skills were cherished by her family. The delightful aroma of her dishes and the joyous moments shared around the dinner table will be dearly missed.
But above all else, Kathy’s heart was devoted to her family. The love and affection she showered upon her husband, children, and grandchildren were immeasurable. The moments spent together, whether big celebrations or simple gatherings, brought her immense happiness.
In the simplest things in life, Kathy found immense joy. Her warm smile and infectious laughter lit up any room she entered, and her presence brought comfort and solace to those around her. She taught us the value of finding happiness in the little things and cherishing the love of family and friends.
A Remembrance of Life gathering to honor the life of Kathy Gail Allen will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee.
