Karen Diane Friend went home to be with the Lord peacefully on April 19, 2026. Karen is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Marlyn Friend and grandparents, Ralph and Wilma Lockwood.
Karen is survived by her son Micah Friend (Sarah) and her 4 grandchildren Olivia, Magnolia, Canaan and Camilla; sisters, Kathleen Friend (Armin) and Kristi Hargrove (Scott) and five nieces and nephews.
Karen was born in Chicago Illinois, but spent most of her life in Houston Texas where she worked as a court reporter and real estate agent. Karen attended Houston’s First Baptist Church for more than 25 yrs and was blessed to find a new home at Cove Baptist that she also loved when she moved to Huntsville about 2 1/2 years ago. Karen so enjoyed singing in the choir there.
Karen touched many lives with her generosity, passionate spirit, quick smile, and infectious laugh. She was a friend to all in need including a long history of tending to stray animals. May her passing be for a blessing.
A memorial service will be held May 23, 2026, 11 am at Cove Baptist Church followed by a reception. All are welcome.
