Juliana D. Bowling Juliana D. Bowling, at the age of 77, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Visitation will be Thursday, February 23, from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Old Brick Presbyterian Church, Muscle Shoals. The funeral service will immediately follow at the church with Rev. Carl Malm officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Julie was born August 13,1945 in Indianola, Mississippi and grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. She then went to college at Florence State College. There she met her future husband, Phillip Bowling. They were married on December 17, 1966. She had three children and was a devoted mother and wife. Julie attended Old Brick Presbyterian Church regularly with her family. She was a member for over 50 years. She was a Sunday School Teacher, the Sunday School Superintendent and served as an Elder. She was also involved in the Lady’s Group. She loved her church.

She was a teacher for over 30 years working for the Muscle Shoals City School System, Colbert County School System and Covenant Christian School. She was an outstanding educator that deeply cared for the well-being of her students and the future of education. Julie was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Colbert County Retired Teachers and Alabama Education Association. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and time spent with her grandchildren and family.

She is survived by her husband Phillip Bowling; their three children, Heather Juliana Bowling Kimbrough (Lance), Kathryn Elizabeth Bowling (Chad), and John Phillip Lemuel Bowling (Shelley); and grandchildren, Claire Juliana Kimbrough, Matthew Robin Kimbrough, Hannah Elizabeth Bowling and Charlie Lucille Bowling.
She is also survived by her siblings, Tom DeFreez (Jean), Melinda Wilmot (Lee), Nancy Fowler and Rick DeFreez; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Her spirit and love will remain with us always.

Pallbearer’s will be Daniel Rosser, Kerry “Bubba” Underwood, Robert Austin, Roger Bradford, Chet Holt, Chad Wallen.
