Julia McCain Harper, 87, of Huntsville passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026. She was born on October 4, 1938, in Boaz, AL to Borton Thomas McCain and Katie Wright McCain.

Julia was accomplished in many things, but she especially loved square dancing as a member of the Tanglefeet dancing troupe. Julia and Ernest traveled yearly to Panama City for square dancing events, sharing dinners and dancing with friends from all over. She loved to do needlework and beadwork and was a member of the Embroidery Guild of America. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Traci Pritchett (Duane), Donald Pritchett (Mary), and Margaret Harper Mays (Steve); granddaughter, Desiree Schofield (Pete), and great-grandsons, Jacob Sato (Natalie), Alex Sato (Alisha), Collin Schofield, and Jeremian Schofield.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Ernest Harper.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at Huntsville Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
