Doris Dalton Hicks, age 80, of Lewisburg, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Marshall Medical Center.
Doris was born April 1, 1945, in Lewisburg, Tennessee, to the late J. D. and Ruth Norris Darnell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Dalton, daughter, Loretta Dalton, great granddaughter, Dixie Blackwell, and two brothers, Ellis and Eugene Darnell.
She is survived by her husband Marion Hicks; two daughters, Lisa Morris of Farmington and Kelsey Foster of the Yell Community; sister Linda Coyle of Lewisburg; two brothers, Calvin and Freddie Darnell both of Lewisburg; step children, Fay Wiser, Pat McCord, Doug Dalton, Mark Dalton, and Guy Dalton; grandchildren, Casey Morris, Eric (Sarah) Blackwell and Scotty (Cherry) Blackwell all of Lewisburg; great grandchildren, Melleeine Blackwell, Ethan and Hunter Blackwell.
She was a member of Farmington Baptist Church where her beautiful singing voice was highly valued. Throughout her career, she contributed many years to Leonard’s Hospital in nutrition services and later worked at Sanford. Known affectionately as “Ellie Mae Clampett” for her natural connection with animals, she enjoyed raising squirrels and spending time with all animals, especially birds and dogs. Her favorite pastimes included completing jigsaw puzzles, telling jokes, making others laugh, and hosting memorable holiday meals. She was famous for her cherished phrases, “I love you more,” and “I am going to Hawaya (Hawaii)!” She was known as the “Queen of Bivins Hollow” where her presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation with the family will be held at London Funeral Home and Crematory, 324 W. Church St., Lewisburg, TN, on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
Funeral Service will be conducted on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 2:00 pm at London Funeral Home and Crematory with burial to follow in Short Cemetery.
Pallbearers include Frankie Darnell, Ethan and Eric Blackwell, Casey and Spencer Morris and Blake Darnell.
