Funeral Services for Ms. Judy Daugherty, age 72 of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville at 11:00 A.M. with Bro. Mark Smith and Bro. Mark Heard officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery.
Ms. Daugherty passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, a 1969 graduate of Lineville High School, and briefly worked at Higgin’s Slacks as a seamstress. She eventually went back to school, attending Southern Union State Community College and obtained her Associates Degree in Nursing, of which she was very proud. She worked in healthcare in Heflin and Ashland before eventually settling at Lineville Health and Rehabilitation. Ms. Daugherty began as a weekend RN, became the Director of Nursing several years after, and eventually became the administrator, until she retired in 2019 after almost 40 years of faithful service. Ms. Daugherty, or “Mom” as she was affectionately known by all who knew her, took pride in her work, and held not only herself, but everyone she worked with to a high standard. “Mom” was also known by her family as “The Boss.” Ms. Daugherty loved being with her family as often as she could. She would spend every Sunday cooking family dinner, and loved spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to Wetumpka and Biloxi, Mississippi to the casinos whenever she could. Ms. Daugherty was a loving Mother and Grandmother, dedicated Nurse, and a “Mom” to all.
Ms. Daugherty is survived by her daughter, Deanna Cotney (Rickie) of Lineville and Kevin Isbell (Carrie) of Talladega; four grandchildren: Lea Atchison (Jack), Samantha Huggart (Judah), Dru Isbell and Carlie Isbell; three great-grandchildren: Evie and Gabe Atchison, and Grady Huggart; two brothers: Larry Daugherty (Bonnie) of West Monroe, Louisiana and Johnny Daugherty of Lineville; her niece, Jessica Daugherty of Denver, Colorado, plus other extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry R. and Loyette Carter Daugherty, and her sister, Donna Lynn Daugherty.
Active Pallbearers will be Jack Atchison, Judah Huggart, Seth Owens, Jamie Dingler, David Sparks, and Wendell Sparks.
Ms. Daugherty’s visitation will take place on Friday, February 2, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. The family would like to extend a Thank You to Compassus Hospice of Roanoke, Hospice of Clay County, and the former co-workers and current employees of Lineville Health and Rehab.
