Juanita Joy Sanderson 92, of Prospect, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Elk River Nursing Home of Ardmore in Ardmore, Tennessee.
She was born on Sunday, June 11, 1933, in Limestone County, Alabama to Ramie Smith and Rosa Lee Jennings Smith.
Juanita lived her life in the Northern Alabama and Southern Tennessee area. She was a member of Sunrise Chapel Church.
She retired from Chrysler in 1990.
She loved to travel for camping trips, sewing, gardening, canning, as well as cutting rocks she would find to make her own jewelry.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, one granddaughter, Anna Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 78 years, Robert Graydon Sanderson, two daughters: Joy Smith, Regina Sanderson, two sisters: Katie Stephenson, Doris Shavers, two grandchildren: Zach (Alexis) Thompson, Dasan (Courtney) Nutt, three great grandchildren: Anthony, Kolton, and Stella.
She was lovingly known as “Memaw” to her family.
A Visitation will be held at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 12:00 (NOON) pm till 2:00 pm. A Chapel Service will follow the visitation at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in Gatlin Cemetery located in Ardmore, Alabama. Bro. Eddie Woodard will be officiating the service.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
