Graveside Services for Mrs. Juanice Rickman Wright, age 88 of Ashland will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. at the Clay County Memory Gardens with Rev. Ben Rosser officiating. The public visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland.
Mrs. Wright passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika. She was born in Lamar County, Alabama on April 23, 1937 to Marvie and Lola Rickman. After Graduation from Millport High School, she went on to work at the First National Bank of Birmingham. She met the man who was to be her husband, Bill Wright, as he too worked at the First National Bank of Birmingham. Bill was offered a position at the First National Bank of Ashland, to which they soon moved to Ashland and began a life together. Juanice made a career out of working at the Ashland Housing Authority where she retired in 2002. She then became more involved in the lives of her grandchildren and was there for most anything in which they were involved. Juanice loved to travel and took several trips with her friends and family. There was hardly an event that happened at First Baptist Church of Ashland where she was not involved. She loved her church family and was always fellowshipping and serving with them.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her daughter, Melanie Parker (Scotty) of Ashland; two grandsons: Will Parker and Brody Parker (Laci), both of Ashland; four sisters in law, Dot Rickman, Dorothy Glenn, Faye Wilson, and Janice Bradberry; one brother in law, Lloyd Wright (Nedra), as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvie and Lola Smith Rickman; her husband, William “Bill” Wright; two brothers: Austin and Gene Rickman; and one sister, Opal Grant.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
