Joyce Hester, age 79, of Tuscumbia, died Sunday, Jan., 19, 2014. Her family will receive friends Wednesday, 11-1 p.m., at Valdosta Church of Christ. The funeral service will follow in the church auditorium with Gary Puryear and Ed White officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.Joyce was a member of Valdosta Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Flora Bolton Hester.She is survived by her brothers, Leldon Hester (Linda), of Decatur, Bryant Hester (Pat), of Florence, and Van Hester (Kaye), of Tuscumbia; and one sister, Sue Smith (Steve), of Muscle Shoals.Pallbearers are nephews, David Hester, Nathan Hester, Timothy Hester, Rodney Hester, Greg Smith, Clarence Johnson, and Jimmy Bacon. Honorary pallbearers include Justin Hester and Matt Smith.Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, is directing.
