Joy Davis Berry, 67, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 at Helen Keller Hospital. She was born in Tupelo, MS to Harold and Aldean Thrasher Davis. She was retired as a Paraprofessional from the Red Bay School and from the Sara Dinsmore Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bay where she served as church pianist for many years. She also taught piano for many years.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 8, 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Bill Harper officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Don Berry; her children, Deana Makepeace (Jose), Lee Berry (Madii), Jodi Shotts and Megan Shotts; her grandchildren, Sam Makepeace, Emilia Makepeace and Ben Michael Berry; her brother, Russell Davis (Teresa); her sisters, Jan Davis, Kay Harrison (Tommy) and Kristy Thompson (Brian) and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ben Marcellus Berry; sister, Susan Davis; brother, Joseph Davis and her grandparents, Earnie and Pearlie Davis and Toy and Lucille Thrasher.
Pallbearers will be Brad Bolton, Stacy Ozbirn, Brad Hill, Johnny Weatherford, Lee Page and James Overton.
Visitation will be Monday, August 7, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL. The body will lie-in-state at the church from 3-4 p.m. on Tuesday.
