Mr. Jospeh Richard “Rickey” Basham age 63 of McMinnville, TN, passed from this earthly life on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Ascension St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN from an extended illness. He was born March 15, 1960, in McMinnville, was a member of the Church of Christ, a farmer, and a professional truck driver with Batesville Casket Co. He was preceded in death by his father Joe Bob Basham, brother James Lynn “Jimmy” Basham, and his beloved cat Jack.
Rickey was fun loving and enjoyed his time at the lake. You could find him watching and cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and listening to Elvis, the Eagles, and Glenn Campbell. Rickey’s favorite past time was farming with his brothers and driving his John Deere tractors.
Rickey is survived by his mother Dorothy Jean Haston Basham, son Christopher Basham, girlfriend of many years Jennie Sydenstricker, brothers Jerry Basham (Brenda Smith) and Steve Basham (Jennifer Fults), sister-in-law Jennifer Basham, nieces and nephews and their children Stacey (Steven) Elam, their daughter Ava; Montgomery (Nikki) Basham, their children Maverick and Reagan James; Will (Breanna) Basham, their daughter Avery Kate; and Anissa Basham, and his treasured cat Phoebe.
Graveside service and interment is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Mt. View Cemetery. Brett Merritt will officiate. The Basham family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:30 P.M. at McMinnville Funeral Home.
